Classic TV Commercials

I was able to download these 1948 (?) TV ads from the internet a couple of days ago. Click here to see the full video since I can’t load it here.

1) BAND AID STRIP with SUPER STICK. It’s about this band aid with “super adhesive” and they demonstrated it by sticking it to a boiling egg.

2) The next tvc is about another band aid product: colored band aids for kids. Since the ads are in black and white, the kids actually shout out the colors.

3) An animated Gillette commercial with an old-school jingle.

4) The REMINGTON ELECTRIC SHAVER (is this still in the market?). I don’t really want to say anything more but let’s just say that the demonstration really cracked me. Just watch what they compare a man’s face to.

5) The next ad featured baseball hall-of-famer Pee Wee Reese(among others) giving advice to youngsters to use the GILLETTE SUPER SPEED SHAVER. Listen to the first few lines of the ad. šŸ™‚

5) The next ad is probably my favorite. It’s about a product called MUM. I won’t say anything else so as not to ruin it for everyone. Just watch it.

6) Another animated commercial for PEPSODENT. I love this ad’s jingle and I’m seriously looking for ways to rip the audio from this video so I can use it as a ringtone. šŸ™‚

7)The last ad is a pretty long and boring one about the DODGE. It pretty much seems like a corporate video presentation squeezed into a minute.

Have fun! šŸ™‚Ā

    Hello hazel: nice to have someone like you around.

    I wonder if you can get hold of the Gold Eagle Beer Commercial aired from April to July of 1992. Aired for only 3 months due to political reasons. Anyway I heard it was a trailblazer of sorts having started the idea of serial commercials with cliff-hanging endings. It is a trilogy that showed the aspirations of beerdrinkers in the lower crust. It is actually the basis of serial concepts like “surf” and “ponds”. Others actually followed suit but the idea has worn out.

    Please let me know the files still exist, and I hope you can show it here . Best and thanks.

    PS. Another trailblazing commercial shown only once is the Lady’s Choice Peanut Butter Trilogy. It was aired along with the Vilma santos-ralph recto wedding in the early 90s. It’s a great one but many failed to see it due to its limited showing. Hope you find it too.

    @pythagoras: thanks for dropping by.

    I’m assuming that the two ads you’re looking for were locally produced. We might have a problem there because both tv commercials are still covered by copyright law since they aired in the 90s. The classic tv commercials in this entry dates back to the 1940s so they’re over 50 years old; in short, copyright’s moot and we can share the material all over without fear of anyone suing us.
    If you really want to get copies of those ads, I suggest you try to research on which ad agency made them. You can try to contact those agencies and ask for a copy. Good luck!
